For people who want to try baking for the first time, choosing a pan to use may seem like a small deal. You simply go to the store and pick a pan that you like. However, expert bakers and cooking aficionados will tell you that this should not be the case. There is more to choosing the right pan than meets the eye. The pan that is brought into play when making has a big impact on your cookies or any pastry that you had planned on baking. And when looking for perfection or at least a palatable cake, getting and using the right pan is the key. Here are a few tips that might help you in choosing the ideal pan for you to achieve delicious results.
Step one is to pull out your cooking books and check your recipes one by one. Generally, these recipes provide for details on what type of pan you should be using. This just means that not all pans were created equal. Each is made for a specific purpose. So if you are planning to bake a birthday cake, then your kitchen should be equipped with a cake pan.
Other specific and specialty pans include pizza pans, muffin pans, pie pans, bread or loaf pans, roast pans and even pans for your jelly rolls. Next thing to check on is the height and width of your oven as well as your refrigerator. Yes, that is right. Your pan must also be the right size to get into your oven and refrigerator. You may have the right pan to cook your muffins in but how can you bake them if your pan would not even fit your oven.
There are also lots of food recipes which involve cooling or even cooking the pastries by placing them inside the refrigerator. This is why it is also essential that you check if your refrigerator can accommodate such a pan. Choosing a pan with the right size is not too hard as usually the ones that are available in the market can easily fit in both.
If you are confused on which pans to get and find it too expensive to purchase all types then it is best that you start with three basic pans. These are the deep baking pan which you can use in making lasagna or your child”s favorite brownies. Cookies have always been a favorite pastry in almost all households, so don”t forget to get a cookie sheet. And then there”s your basic sheet pan. If you want to go for something fancier and start going for specialty recipes like muffins or perhaps cheesecake, you may include in your purchase a round cake pan or a spring form pan which can serve the purpose.
Stay away from those pans that tend to bend quickly. Go for pans that are made up of aluminum or steel as these are sturdier than others. Keep in mind that the thicker your pan is, the more even the heat will be distributed thus you can be sure that your pan of muffins are getting equal warmth.

Raw food restaurants are being seen in more and more locales all across the United States and other countries as well, and as a result vegetarians are very happy to have more choices. This increase in restaurants that feature raw foods is just a part of the living food movement that is flourishing and which is bringing some new ideas in taste, color and texture to American restaurant goers.
Those who live the raw vegetarian or raw vegan lifestyle are quite familiar with the tastes and textures of a raw food diet, yet most average folks are uninitiated to this aspect until they encounter a raw food restaurant and sit down to partake in eating this type of food. This trend started just a few years ago and is catching on and growing significantly.
While some people might immediately think of small, homey, hole-in-the-wall joints when they first hear someone mention raw food restaurants, that is no longer an accurate description of many of these eateries. Instead, with the raw food movement finding favor with people from all walks of life and attracting celebrity enthusiasts, you are just as likely to find the raw food restaurant nearest you to be an upscale, trendy eatery offering the haute cuisine of living foods.
Even many famous and well-known traditional chefs are seeking out the gourmet offerings at their local raw food restaurant in order to learn about the living raw cuisine. As they observe the chef and sneak some peeks at a recipe or two, these classic chefs are discovering a whole new way of presenting and preparing raw food in ways that offer a surprising array of diverse, visually pleasing and delightful taste sensations.
More and more often, these restaurants that offer raw foods are sprouting up and enjoying increased visibility in strip malls, in upscale neighborhoods, in renovated houses in up and coming areas, along major thoroughfares, and even in prime stand-alone locations. In fact, in many instances from the exterior, a raw food restaurant may appear to be just another inviting cafe or diner that is designed to make people feel warm and welcomed.
Since raw food recipes are prepared and created without using the conventional cooking methods common to traditional restaurants, you will discover that the kitchens are quite different in appearance and function. You won”t find an oven or stove top in sight, or a bank of microwave ovens. In fact, you won”t even find something as simple and mundane as a can opener.
What you will find in the kitchens are various appliances such as food processors, various types of juicers, high-powered blenders and dehydration units. This is all that is needed for raw food cooking and preparing a menu filled with living food meals.
People who engage in the living raw lifestyle primarily eat fresh fruits and uncooked vegetables, as well as nuts, seeds, grains, legumes and sprouts. Many say they feel better, more energetic and enjoy better health overall by following a raw food diet and some even report that illness and disease has been reversed. Since all of these benefits are avidly being sought out by many, including the baby boomer generation, it is likely that more raw food restaurants will be seen in greater numbers.

The best thing we can do to keep down our life insurance premiums is to keep down our ailments and keep up our health.
One of the ways we can seriously look after our health is to watch what we eat. If, as the saying goes, we are what we eat, then I”m walking around looking like a chocolate cake which is never going to catch on. So, I”m going to take a look at the so-called super foods that promise to make me healthy, give me the skin and body I had twenty years ago, ward off cancer and make me live forever, in which case I”m going to need lower life insurance premiums if I have to keep payments up that long!
Tomatoes are the latest thing to be hailed as the super food. Their cancer fighting properties have long been heralded as the source of all nutrition and anti oxidants. To have a real benefit, you must eat tomato based meals at least twice a day. So, that could mean tomato juice with breakfast and salad with tomatoes at lunch. Or tomato soup at lunch and spaghetti Bolognese for dinner.
I can”t help but think that this could get a little monotonous. And possibly turn you red. But hey, you”ll have lower life insurance premiums.
Berries are also upheld in cookery books as life savers now, rescuing us from the perils of cancer and heart disease. Although it”s true all natural foods have positive health benefits, if we consumed them in the quantities the health experts suggest, we”d be constantly eating (sounds like a plan to me!).
Health gurus are not the only ones to pick up on this idea. Supermarkets have upped the price of all foods that come with the tag of ”health benefit”. So, while we save on our life insurance, we”ll be spending more on the food!
Super foods such as oats and yoghurt will not only build up your immune system from within but you can also slather them on your skin to instantly look ten years younger (or something like that!) All foods in the ”super” group will be natural. They will often have been discovered in some remote part of the countryside of Peru and be ridiculously expensive to import. They will also be ridiculously difficult to get into, spilling berries and pips and spitting juice everywhere.
Take a wander down the fruit and veg aisle at your local supermarket and you”ll be overwhelmed at the variety of weird and wonderful looking stuff in all shapes and colours and you can be pretty sure they will all be packed with vitamins and minerals that will fight off cancer, remove the threat of some indiscriminate disease and give you the complexion that only comes with eternal youth.
You will however, be thin. Living off of fruit and veg will make you thinner. Paying for this over-priced food will mean you can afford less, making you thinner. You will save money on your life insurance premiums because you”ll be healthier but you will have to sustain these payments longer because you will live longer. You will also be overwhelmed with the urge to buy more clothes because you”ll think you look better thinner (not always conducive with reality). So, at the end of the day, it”s all swings and roundabouts.

For those who just love all facets of fine wines, relishing marvelous dessert wines is an experience that calls for all of the senses, a full sensory adventure. This is one of the reasons why so many wine connoisseurs have a tendency to select a wooden wine rack to house their important collection of exceptional wines due to the beauty, warmth and function that wood offers.
Strength and Durability
Fine woods are inviting to the eye with their grains and textures and warm tones. A finely crafted wooden rack also appears warm to the touch and exudes not just a sense of strength as well as durability, but also an awareness of amiability that is very inviting.
Apart from the aesthetic reasons for selecting a wooden wine rack to guard your collection of fine vintages, there are some really pragmatic grounds for selecting wine storage cabinets made of wood. One of these reasons is the fact that wood is one of the best materials for absorbing vibrations.
When wine is aging, it has a need to be stored as with as little motion as possible to give it the chance to settle and let it not be disturbed. There are many low level vibrations that individuals become accustomed to and are really not cognizant of that and can interfere with the proper aging process of a fine wine. Storing your wine bottles in a wooden rack will help to lessen the vibrations since the wood itself can absorb much of them.
Another very practical reason for selecting a wooden rack to store your wine collection is that wood is a really long-wearing material. This is especially true of fine hardwoods which are frequently used in crafting wine racks. Naturally, the quality of the construction is important as well, so you will want to make certain that you select units that have been well-built.
Craftsmanship Quality
This is actually a rather simple criterion to meet, as most of the wooden units are built by craftsmen who take great satisfaction in their work and who have a fine eye for detail. Because of this, quality wood wine racks can be rather high-priced, but this is considered essential to wine aficionados who want to assure that the investment they have made in their wines is well guarded.
There is a huge variety of wooden styles that can be found to meet almost all wine storage needs. They range from quite small units that may only hold six to nine bottles of wine all the way to custom, built in wine racks that might encompass a whole room or fill a custom wine cellar.
The wooden wine rack also remains a popular selection for wine collectors because they can be bought as a wine rack kit or they can be custom made, and either choice will fit very well with any kind of decor. They can be custom finished with a stain or constructed out of a specific wood that will match your other furnishings and fit right into the decorating scheme.

Chocolates have been popular for centuries, and people still love them. Almost everyone loves these delicious candies. Even dieters will sneak a piece or two when they think no one”s looking. One popular type of chocolate confection is Belgian chocolate-dipped marshmallows.
Chocolate has a long history. It originated as a sacred drink in Meso-America, only affordable by the very rich. Cocoa beans were an important part of the Aztec monetary system. That means that people who drank chocolate were literally eating money. While no one uses chocolate for money today, it”s still a cherished treat for many people. Some consider chocolate to be the best candy there is.
Many countries are proud of their particular chocolates. For instance, what”s now called Belgian chocolate started out as a secret recipe, passed down among Spanish aristocrats. This chocolate originally started out as a drink, but was later made into solid form. Now, it”s used in many types of Belgian chocolates, including Belgian chocolate-dipped marshmallows. You can also get fruit, nuts, and cookies with a Belgian chocolate coating.
Belgian chocolates are some of the highest quality (and most expensive) chocolate confections. However, there are plenty of affordable Belgian chocolate candies, too, so that everyone can try these wonderful treats. Some chocolates have an extra kick – a liqueur center that gives them a little something special.
Many chocolate lovers say that Belgian chocolate is the best. These well made little treats are so good that almost anyone who tries them wants to eat more. Many famous chocolatiers use Belgian chocolate, including Godiva and others who make some of the world”s best chocolate. Some people have even traveled all the way to Belgium to be sure they can enjoy the best that country has to offer.
Chocolate is a great thing to give people you love. If you”re thinking about a present for a spouse, relative, or someone else you care about, consider giving fine Belgian chocolates. You can be sure that this excellent gift will be appreciated to the fullest. There”s even a rumor (for lovebirds who give chocolate) that this treat is also an aphrodisiac.
While fine Belgian chocolate-dipped marshmallows and other candies might seem expensive, you”ll think they”re worth it after you taste them. Look in your local fine candy stores, or go online to find a specialty shop that offers the chocolate you”re after. If you can”t find a store that carries good Belgian chocolate in your area, take a look on the Internet, and see what”s available. You can have these great chocolates arrive at your door with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Online shopping for chocolate allows you to take advantage of specialty shops” excellent selections, as well as special promotions. Online sellers often have the ability to offer the same product for less, and may include special free offers that you can”t get anywhere else.

Mmmmmm..chocolate. One of the most popular wedding favors out there for brides is to use some kind of candy. It”s relatively inexpensive, well liked by nearly everyone, and you can wrap it up to where it looks totally cute. Perhaps the favorite (of mine anyway) are the chocolate wedding favors. Despite what you think, you don”t have to spend a fortune to make chocolate wedding favors, its a great inexpensive wedding favor. On top of that, you can even lots of different things with chocolate wedding favors to spice it up and make it unique for your wedding. Here are some great ideas to make your own chocolate wedding favors.
1. Chocolate Rose Wedding Favors
If you haven”t seen this done before, it”s pretty charming. Grab some Hershey”s kisses, wire, cellophane, green florist tape, and some silk leaves if you like. To make these chocolate wedding favors, take two kisses, put them bottom to bottom and stick a length of wire through them both. Then wrap them tightly in cellophane and secure with the florist tape, adding leaves to the middle of the wires as desired. This takes a lot of time, but they turn out cute if you keep everything looking the same. It may take you a couple of roses before you get the knack for it. But they can be placed in small baskets in the middle of each table as a cute addition to your table”s centerpiece.
2. Chocolate Lollipop Wedding Favors
This chocolate wedding favor can be done quickly and easily, and they do turn out really cute. Simply go to a craft store and pick out a candy mold that you would like to use, and a bag of lollipop sticks as well (you can get a pack of a hundred or more for just a few dollars). Then, melt almond bark and add food coloring if you”d like a certain color, pour into mold, add the lollipop stick, and freeze for a few minutes until firm. Then, wrap each in cellophane and store in the refrigerator until time to serve. Or, if you prefer, you can find your own recipe for chocolate and use that instead, but almond bark is the easiest for me.
3. Chocolate Bar Wedding Favors
This is a really simple wedding favor. Go to the store and either get a bunch of mini chocolate bars such as a bag of assorted chocolate bars, or large full size chocolate bars. Then you can get on the internet and order wrappers in your wedding colors or with a special pre-printed note to your guests, remove the original wrapping and replace it with your special wrapper. Voila! Easy, right
4. Chocolate Candy Wedding Favors
This one is getting really popular. Instead of pre-packaging hundreds of little individual wedding favors, buy lots of types of chocolates, display them attractively in large bowls, and provide each guest with a small bag they can fill with their favorites and take home. All you”ll need for this is large bowls for the candy, a scoop for each candy, small bags or boxes for the guests to use, and any other table decorations you like. Very simple, and you ensure that your guests get their favorite to take home.
Like I said, chocolate”s great, and nearly everyone loves it. It”s a great no hassle wedding favor that you can quickly make and store until your big day.

If that is remotely the question, then chances are you”ve already decided you”re thirsty. You”re just a little unsure about choice of quenching venue. And that”s where Portland, Oregon”s array of abundant imbibing options can concoct a double-shot of confusion. But just a little information and a few recommendations will have your bottom down in the perfect place to bottoms up.
Of course, as if the act of drinking alcohol weren”t responsible for a bit of confusion in its own right, common classification of modern drinking venues can disorient even the sober civilian. So first of all, a little clarification of terms is in order. Not to be considered the Encyclopedia Spiritanica by any stretch, the following taxonomy is shared simply to mitigate confusion by ensuring that the reader is on the same page as the writer. The following definitions are then mere observations, albeit ones determined after a sampling of the goods.
In the context of getting your drink on, a “bar” is the most generic of terms with an overarching meaning that encompasses everything from the small slab in the corner of a restaurant where one waits for a table to the longer variety boasting the dull patina of cigarette burns, forearm grease, and tears -where one waits for a life.
A “pub” connotes neighborhood and friendliness and perhaps more beer than bourbon. The food is comfort as is the mandate of style and dress.
A “club” is where you dress up to sweat and gyrate just long enough to find a partner to take home to sweat and gyrate with some more.
A “tavern” or “saloon” is where you go the next morning to forget about the fallout from the “club” you went to the night before.
So, if you”re all dressed up and the course ahead calls for clubbing, a few of the more popular Portland options include the Bettie Ford Lounge, Barracuda, and Holocene. The first, Bettie Ford, is an L.A.-esque club experience complete with celebrity sightings. Barracuda offers large-scale beats on its 15,000 square foot dance floor, or you may cozy up behind one of their curtained cabanas upstairs. And Holocene is a popular Portland destination catering to the stylish club set, featuring local musicians and DJs as well as modern decor, a nice sized dance floor, and several separate spaces including an indoor area for smokers.
The Portland tavern category is nicely characterized by Lizzie”s Slammer Tavern, where the caustic sass of its namesake proprietor just makes you want to stay–which is what she did, having started out there as a waitress 26 years ago. She bought the place for herself 12 years later, and the rest is an ongoing history with her beloved clientele and staff.
At the mention of the word, “saloon”, one often might think of the wild west or at the very least a venue where a person engages in watching their back more than drinking their beer. However, a friendly alternative to such definitions can be found within the inviting atmosphere of the East Bank Saloon. The restaurant side of this establishment features a warm dining room of cool brick, wooden tables, and a grand piano. East Bank also boasts a terrific outdoor deck area and a menu offering culinary delights like portobello mushroom ravioli, halibut and chips, and prime rib.
And finally, in Portland, when you”re talking pub, you”re likely talking McMenamins. Forming a local chain of creative spaces, these pubs are no less than legendary for their tasty homemade brew and vittles as well their makeover of places like an elementary school and a crematorium (yes, a crematorium), rebirthing them into hotels, restaurants, movie theaters, and pubs, pubs, pubs.
One particular McMenamins location offers three floors of choices. Popular touring acts play several nights a week on the Crystal Ballroom tier, which boasts a 90-year-old “floating” dance floor that literally moves in rhythm with the crowd, a sensation that is not to be missed. Beneath the Ballroom, Lola”s Room is a smaller venue that offers live music and D.J. mixes. And on the bottom floor is Ringlers, where you may sidle up to the mosaic-lined bar for a casual sip of whatever strikes your fancy.
Though these tips on taps are just those of an iceberg, they should satisfy at least a thirst for Portland knowledge. Cheers!

Green Tea is all the rage at present and it”s popularity is likely to increase in the next few years. So why has it become so popular with people who are trying to lose weight naturally? Well, let”s take a look and see why!
Years, and I mean years, of research proves that people who drink Green Tea are more likely to shed weight faster than those people who do not drink it. However, it is not only good for helping you get rid of fat as it has many other health benefits, so even if you do not need to lose pounds, you should be drinking it now!
So, here are 3 ways in which Green Tea will actually help you to lose weight. It has many more benefits as I mentioned, but for the sake of this article, I will stick with weight loss ok?
Firstly, it is a great appetite suppressant. The major problem for most people is feeling hungry when on a diet. Green Tea will help to stop those hunger pangs and prevent you from bingeing out on foods and throw you back to where you started. Studies prove that Green Tea is a great natural suppressant so drink while trying to get rid of fat.
It also gives you natural energy. Having more energy is important when trying to lose weight. you need to exercise more to shed those pounds and Green Tea can help to give you that extra boost you need to keep going. Drinking it on a regular basis will give you more energy overall.
It will help to stimulate your metabolism. It is of course your metabolism that burns calories and turns them into energy. Green Tea is a natural stimulate which means that by drinking it you will naturally burn more calories each day. The quicker you burn calories, the quicker you get rid of that fat.
Please be aware though that some brands of Tea actually contain caffeine, so if you cannot drink caffeine, you should be able to find a decaffeinated version on the supermarket shelf.
Another great benefit of drinking tea is the antioxidants that will help to rid your body of free radicals. Green Tea is full of antioxidants and it really is good for you.
So remember that if you want to burn fat fast, lose weight and stay healthy all at the same time, then you simply need to add Green Tea to your diet and drink it on a regular basis.
Why not give it a try and see how Green Tea can help you to lose weight naturally too?
