The restaurant apron is worn for a couple of different reasons by all kinds of staff members in the food industry. One of the reasons was to protect the clothing underneath it from getting messy, from wear, and from tear. Another reason was for hygienic purposes, and yet another reason is to provide something to wipe hands on and something to hold a ticket book when needed.
Up until about the 1900s, aprons were worn by women every day, all day, and they were actually considered as part of a females attire. Today of course they are worn by women, men, and children who are working on projects, cooking food, baking desserts, working on arts and crafts, painting, building, and for any other activities that require the use of them. Did you know that the original word for a restaurant apron is napron? Gradually, the name was changed to the word we know today as the n was eventually dropped. Over the years, the style and purpose of this handy little piece of attire has changed to be suitable for different jobs.
The napron as we think of it today was introduced in 1960, and housewives across the country who were privy to all kinds of handy household machines valued them to protect those pretty dresses so that they would remain presentable for their husbands when they arrived home from work for dinner. Normally they are worn around the waist and can fall to the knee, the calf, or the ankle. Other types of aprons include longer lengths that go up to the neck with a strap around this area to keep it up.
Today, they are used by housemaids, hotel staff, nurses, students, scientists, mechanics, doctors, wait staff, banquet servers, and many others as well. Not only do these restaurant aprons keep the wearers clean, they also can be used as decorative garments and to advertise with different logos or pictures on them.
Depending on what the attire is needed for, these are made of different materials such as rubber, PVC, lead, cotton, leather, and more as well. There are many different styles, lengths, and colors that they are available in as well, and depending on the wearers specific needs, they can be purchased in styles with one or two pockets in them as well. There are many different places online that you can find discount restaurant uniforms at, and using a search engine might be your best bet for finding them online.

It might be hard to pin down exactly who the first cowboy was that took along coffee out into the wilderness to do all of the things that cowboys did back in the wild west days, but one thing is for sure, they did not like to be out on the trail without it. They even had their own preferred blend made by someone named Arbuckle. This was after they had used the roasting green coffee beans in a skillet and then brewing them up. When the Arbuckle store in Pittsburgh developed a way to keep ground coffee fresher for longer periods of time, the cowboys wanted this kind because it saved them time and trouble.
They would brew their coffee up in a cooking pot or even a skillet if that was all they had. Luckily for them, they did figure out that if they wanted coffee made easier on an open fire, a coffee pot was a necessary item to pack in their gear. Before long any good cowboy out roaming had his coffee pot. No wagon train or cattle drive was without a coffee pot either. Perhaps sometimes being in the wilderness where real stores or even trading posts could be few and very far in between, it might have been a little hard to come by if they ran out.
The coffee we are accustomed to today is probably a lot more tasty than what they had back then. Not so much that the coffee itself was any different, but it might not have been ground as fine and sugar and cream was probably not readily available either. However, the Arbuckle brand did have a sugar and egg coating that gave it some sweetness. This is what was used to preserve the freshness for as long as possible.
It is doubtful that many of us today would be able to stomach the coffee that the old time cowboys brewed up. It was supposedly a lot stronger than what we prefer, unless you are an espresso drinker. We have become spoiled to the many flavors we can ad to our brew like chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a wide variety of other things. We like special creamers and whipped toppings on our cup of Joe. Not having the coffee we are accustomed to might be just one more reason that some of us would never have made a very good cowboy.

How many pots of coffee are brewed in a single household each day? I know in mine, we usually make anywhere from three to five twelve cup pots a day. My household is larger than most, so we naturally go through more coffee. That is a lot of coffee grounds that we throw away each day. Studies show that this could be a means to make more bio friendly fuel for our vehicles.
Coffee grinds contain fifteen percent oil. This oil is comparable to oils found in soybeans and other products that are used to make bio diesel fuels. The used grounds are dried out and the oil is then removed. Because of its high antioxidant content coffee oil is relatively more stable than other oils that are currently used for fuel sources. This bio diesel fuel, made from coffee grounds, turns out to be more stable than traditional fuels that we use in vehicles. It also stays stable a lot longer than traditional fuels. It also emits less carbon dioxide than gasoline does. Coffee oil is all around hands down the better option for a bio friendly fuel supplement. Its antioxidants make it burn cleaner and are thus more efficient than regular fuel supplies.
Do not get too excited over this prospect. Even though using coffee grounds is efficient, it is not very practical right now. When coffee shops brew their coffees there is not much leftover. It would take fifty gallons of used coffee grounds just to equal one gallon of coffee oil. So while this is efficient, it is not practical. I do not foresee coffee oil becoming a regular fuel source for vehicles. I do foresee coffee oil being added to the bio diesel fuel mixtures that are being used in vehicles today. Even if coffee oil does not become a sole source of fuel, using the oils from coffee grinds is more beneficial to our environment. It is also less wasteful because by the time you are all done, there is virtually nothing left.
Today’’s prices on gasoline are on the rise. Using bio diesel fuel would be cheaper on every one. Researchers say that because very little energy is used to make this bio fuel, the cost on in would be roughly around a $1 per gallon. Imagine only paying $1 for a gallon of fuel in your car. Amazing! I know that this would be a nice break for my family and for many others. With as much coffee grounds go to waste in this country alone, studies show that almost 348 billion gallons of oil could be produced. This oil could then be used to make bio diesel fuel which is cleaner and more efficient than the gasoline that we use. We would not only be ridding ourselves of waste product, but also keeping our air and atmosphere cleaner, thus promoting better health for the overall public.
So not only do we get a fantastic drink that gives us energy, but we also get a more efficient fuel source, all from the same little plant: the coffee bush.

Unless you”ve been living under a rock you should know by now that getting more Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids is great for your health.
More and more scientists are finding more areas of our health that can benefit from getting more Omega 3 into our bodies. Our heart, our brain, our internal organs, our eyes, so many things need more Omega 3.
There’’s 2 essential fatty acids found in fish oil, the best source of healthy polyunsaturated fats. One is DHA and the other is EPA. DHA is the most important, but EPA is pretty important too. Both are what are essential polyunsaturated fats.
And fish oil has plenty of good fats in it, so most Omega 3 supplements are based on fish oil.
But there is also a plant based Omega 3 fatty acid. Its called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). The benefit to the body is that it converts ALA to DHA, although there is debate about how much ALA actually gets converted, some say not a lot. For that reason DHA from fish oil is better, because your body doesnt need to convert it.
You get your stores of healthy polyunsaturated fats from what you eat. Now you really need to take a daily dose of Omega 3 so the best way to do that is to take daily fish oil supplements. But it’’s also very useful to add more good fats to your general diet as well.
There’’s good fats and bad fats. The bad fats are those like saturated fat that is found in dairy foods and meat. If you start eating good fats and reduce your bad fats it will do a power of good for your health.
Some oils like olive oil and flaxseed oil have good fats too, for cooking. And there are vegetables that do too like brussel sprouts and spinach.
The vegetables have ALA but if you”re taking your fish oil supplements you”re getting your DHA and EPA from that source. And you can eat fish but the FDA tells us not to eat too much fish due to chemical contamination.
So if you”re taking your daily fish oil supplements and you”re doing some good Omega 3 cooking then you”re getting the best of both worlds. So start looking for some high Omega 3 foods and find a few good Omega 3 recipes for the kitchen. You need to source an Omega 3 cookbook to find some great recipes.
So grab a good Omega 3 cookbook and start making some recipes. Buy a high Omega oil to cook with and begin cooking some Omega 3 recipes for the family.
So remember, whilst you should be taking daily fish oil supplements to get the maximum benefit from those good fats, its well worthwhile also concentrating on using Omega 3 recipes when doing your cooking.

Are you someone who sets the timer on your coffee maker the night before so it will already be finished brewing when your feet hit the floor? There are plenty of people just like you who want that morning caffeine kick as soon as their eyes are opened and they can m make their way to the kitchen. Some people might even have a coffee maker in their bedroom if they find it hard to get to the kitchen. This might sound a little crazy, but for some it is true.
Caffeine is definitely addictive even if many people do not think. Whether it is physically addictive or not might be debatable, but the fact remains that some folks just do not think they could make it through their day without their caffeine. The first cup they have in the morning gets their eyes opened and gets them functioning. By the time they have that second cup, they have a little more zip in their step. For the ones that have a third and fourth cup, well the rest of us might have a hard time keeping up with them at all.
Most of us are probably just morning coffee drinkers, but the ones that really love their caffeine might drink it off an all all through out their day. How in the world some folks even drink it at night is just mind boggling. For the majority of coffee drinkers consuming it late in the evening will mean a restless might for sure, but it just does not seem to affect some people at all.
A person who drinks coffee all day long are likely to be seen carrying a thermos bottle with them everywhere they go. They would not want to be caught at work without any. This way they can have it at will anytime they want it. What if the coffee vending machine were to be broken? They might not make it until lunchtime. Not everyone carries their coffee drinking to this extreme, but today more and more people are drinking it more and more at other times besides just in the mornings.
If you do drink a lot of coffee and you enjoy the more expensive varieties like cappuccinos and espressos, you might want to consider investing in one of these great machines for your house. It can be much cheaper to fix it to take it with you this way rather than stopping in at those expensive coffee shops everyday. The people that carry around those thermos bottles just might be onto something.

If you are like a lot of people, you just just can not get going in the morning without a cup of steaming hot coffee. Most people like it because it has that kick of caffeine that can help you get motivated to get to work or whatever else you might need to be doing. Coffee with your favorite additives, like the fancy creamers or a little sugar, can be a little addictive to the point where some people just can not do without it. You can be irritable and sluggish feeling until you have had that morning fix.
Besides just morning time, some people like to drink coffee off and on through out their day and sometimes even at night. These people must have a strong resistance to the caffeine, not to mention what it can to to the bladder. Of course, not everyone has a urination problem when they drink a lot of coffee, but some people do. Just having a cup or two in the morning can mean many trips to the bathroom for several hours until you get it out of your system and the caffeine affects wear off somewhat.
One of the reasons why coffee can cause frequent urination is because caffeine is a diuretic. It speeds up the nervous system and can cause you to produce urine more quickly. It can really annoying for some people who love their coffee so much and yet have to suffer such inconvenience when they drink it. Even drinking decaffeinated does not seem to help some coffee drinkers, but if you have this problem and have not tried decaf, then maybe you should.
Another alternative to coffee drinking is to try some tea. It is also very good in the morning and some people like it better than coffee because it is not quite so strong. You can still add some of your favorite creamers or you can buy teas that are already flavored. There are so many to choose from, you could probably try a different every morning for weeks. You can make it as weak or as strong as you like. It might be a little different to start with, but given enough time you might get to like it as much as coffee. Having a weak or sensitive bladder does not mean that you can never enjoy coffee, you just might have to enjoy it less often than you would like and be near a bathroom when you do.

For many people who enjoy cooking, baking, creating new recipes, or making exotic dishes, owning a self-run catering business would be the ideal career. However, many cooks may think that dream is impossible simply because they are afraid to try. Though starting a self-run catering business will definitely not be an easy task, all it takes is a bit of planning and a lot of hard work to make the business successful. Here are a few tips for getting started in catering.
The first thing to do is become qualified. This can be done by contacting the local Health Department to check up on regulations. The Health Department can tell you what kinds of permits, inspection certificates, or regulations you will need to become qualified and licensed as a food-handler. You will also want to check with local state regulations and requirements for business permits, licenses, and fees for running your own business.
The next step is to decide whether you want to provide chef services or if you want to start a larger business. “Chef services” is also known as in-home catering. This would mean that you cook and prepare the food in your own kitchen. If you prefer to go into business as a full-fledge caterer, you may want to check on a couple of industrial kitchen options. There are many places that rent industrial kitchens on a month to month or yearly basis. This would allow you to have a larger volume of food production. Also, another option is a catering or concession trailer. Some companies provide manufactured or custom portable catering trailers with full industrial kitchens that can allow you to mobilize your business and cover a larger area.
The next step is to create a menu. You will want to take a look at your recipes and decide which options you plan to offer and what types of food are off limits. Exotic or expensive ingredients may not be the best option in the beginning of a new business.
Since making and managing money will be the deciding factor on whether or not your business is a success, you may want to consider taking a business management course. Often people who specialize in one skill, like cooking, don”t take into account the other skills needed to run a successful business, like marketing and financial management. It takes more than just a love of the industry; you must also be able to plan successfully so that you can afford to continue doing what you love.

Opinions about restaurants have always been a topic of conversation, especially for those places which have become popular for their food or style. In looking for a new restaurant or just to see if one’’s opinion is the same others, there are many sources to check on what another person’’s opinions are about a particular restaurant.
Recognized authorities
When we speak to families and friends about a restaurant, we all have our individual points that matter in a dining experience. Two people may go into the same restaurant at the same time, order the same item and still have differing opinions about the food, presentation, service and ambiance.
There are many authorities on the experience of dining at a restaurant. Most magazines, television and newspaper organizations have food critics and commentators who dine and report on new restaurants and food trends. Many authorities count on individual opinions to rate on certain points such as the type of food, quality, quantity and the skill of the chef. Other points include the quality and selection of accompanying beverages such as wine or spirits. Service, presentation and the experience in the dining area count as well in the rating of the restaurant.
Some authorities such as Zagat or Michelin, rely on diners ratings and experiences that are tallied and when applied to a rating system, a measurement in the form of stars or points are given to a particular eating establishment. However with so many eating places and the actual physical effort of tallying opinions of persons who at times may get to sample only a slim cross section of restaurants, properly rating a large area even a single city, can be very difficult.
There are magazines and websites which are dedicated to rating restaurants in a city or region, where people can write about their dining experience. Examples of these sites include Menuism and Yelp. These sites allow users to join as a reviewer, select a restaurant, and enter a rating according to their system and a review for the establishment. While these are good sources for finding a good place to eat, each person’’s criteria again are different with respect to the entire dining experience.
A noted authority of ratings for ratings is Restaurant Magazine. The San Pellegrino World’’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards and List is organized and compiled by Restaurant Magazine, sponsored by San Pellegrino and other companies.
The winners are chosen by a poll of over 800 food writers, commentators and critics organized into 26 panels representing the different regions of the world. Each panel member has a total of five votes; with no more than three can go to establishments in their region.
