When you go to the grocery store, do you drop by the organic food section or walk past it? Do you know what”s the difference between the food on the organic aisle and the other aisles? Simply put, organic food is free of chemicals, antibiotics, and growth hormones. In other words, they are 100% natural.
There are 3 main reasons why people eat organic food. Let”s take a look at what they are.
1. Better Health
For most people, the biggest motivator for switching to organic food is that it”s better for the body and health. Feeding your body with food laden with chemicals and pesticides puts you at a higher risk of developing health problems such as cancer. It is disconcerting to know that eating an average apple means eating about 9 pesticides, and this is after you”ve washed it. With organic food, you can be sure you are not harming your body with such toxic substances. Some say that organic foods contain more nutrition. However, this is still up for debate. A recent study by the Department of Human Nutrition, University of Copenhagen do not support that claim. On the other side of the coin, a US study by the Organic Centre found organic food to have 25% higher nutrient levels compared to conventional food.
2. Better Environment
Organic farmers do not utilize chemical fertilizers and pesticides to produce their yield. Instead, they use eco-friendly methods such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest control. Organic farming may not produce as much yield as conventional farming but they contribute to soil and water conservation as well as reduce pollution. Certain pesticides and chemical fertilizers can damage the soil and nearby surroundings. By choosing to eat organic food, you are indirectly doing a small part in protecting the environment.
3. It Tastes Better
Does organic food really taste better? The difference in taste is more pronounce in certain foods, not all. Many people have commented that food such as chicken, bananas, strawberries, celery, milk and carrots does taste better when they are organic.
According to a Harris poll dated October 2007, a majority of people believe organic food benefits the environment and health. However, the percentage of Americans buying organic food “all or most of the time” is only 7%. Approximately 30% buy organic food occasionally. Why is that? Organic food may have its benefits but not many are willing to pay twice or three times more for it. The good news is that there are ways to avoid blowing your budget when buying organic food:
- Buy in clubs or co-ops
- Buy directly from farmers
- Buy in bulk
- Buy store brands instead of name brands
- Plant your own organic garden
- Buy in season
- Don”t have to switch over to organic food 100%. The following fruits and vegetables are listed by Environmental Working Group (EWG) as the top 12 most contaminated: peach, apple, sweet bell pepper, celery, nectarine, strawberries, cherries, kale, lettuce, imported grapes, carrot and pear. So give priority to these foods.
So, is switching to organic food a good move? Yes. If you think so too, then don”t hesitate to make the switch. It may be pricier but there are ways to keep the expenditure down.

Many folks have started drinking smoothies as a method to lose weight and improve their health. And if you do it right, smoothies can help you lose weight, but you have to drink the right kind of smoothies. If you drink the wrong kind, you can actually gain weight and be left wondering why.
A smoothie weight loss program is usually made up of a plan that has you replacing your regular meals with low calorie / high nutrition smoothies. You can either replace all your meals with smoothies or you can substitute one or two of your meals each day with smoothies. If you do the second method, you will usually replace breakfast and lunch with a smoothie and then eat a healthy low calorie sensible dinner.
There are many different types of smoothies you can make that will help you lose weight. You can make smoothies that only contain fruit. You can drink smoothies that are a combination of fruits and vegetables. Another way you can make a smoothie is to add protein powder to your mix.
You may have seen a Vita Mix commercial or attended a live presentation at your local store where they blend up a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and give you a sample to taste. You may have been surprised at hose delicious freshly blended fruit and vegetable combinations can be.
People who drink a lot of smoothies that contain fresh fruits and vegetables are supplementing their diet in a marvelous way with loads of nutritious enzymes, vitamins and minerals that their bodies need to stay healthy and fight off disease and illness. Smoothie drinkers often comment that they love that they are enjoying something that tastes so good while also getting the recommended daily allotments of fruits and veggies in their diet. Smoothies just make it so easy to improve your intake of nutritious low calorie healthy foods.
Smoothies are also a great on-the-go meal for our very busy lives. You can easily whip up a smoothie and take it in your car to drink on the way to work. You can also pre-make smoothies to drink for lunch. Just keep them in a cooler or in a thermos and shake them up well just before you drink them.
There is a reason why Jamba Juice has become so popular. Folks are learning just nutritious and delicious smoothies can be. And how easy they facilitate weight loss. Be forewarned though, you can probably make a healthier smoothie at home than what you can get at a Jamba Juice. Quite often smoothie stores will add sugar-sweetened fruit to your smoothies which is not necessary and will just add a lot of extra calories that you do not need or want. If you make your smoothies at home you control the ingredients and ensure that you are not getting added empty calories.

First of all, here is a word of warning. When reading barbecue sauce recipes, look out, a recipe may declare to be sugar free and then start off with the ingredient ketchup, and we all know that ketchup is loaded with sugar. This is also true for Worcestershire sauce.
You will find in the recipe within this article that a tamarind puree is used, a main ingredient that gives Worcestershire sauce its distinctive flavor.
If you would like to create a barbecue sauce with a tomato base then this sauce recipe is an essential read. You will have to have patience when you carmelize the onions, but it will be well worth your while.
Here are the ingredients to a very delicious sugar free barbecue sauce.
1 finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon of water
1 can of chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon of tomato puree
3 tablespoons of cider vinegar
1 teaspoon of tamarind puree
A pinch of each:
Chili powder
Cinnamon
Paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Method- for mixing
Toss your onions into a non-stick sauce pan with a tablespoon of water and simmer on low heat for about an hour or two until onion starts to brown. This carmelizes the onion in its natural sugars and creates the sweetness when added to the tomato sauce.
As for the rest of the ingredients, just throw them into the saucepan and set heat on warm until sauce is ready to use.
So, as you can see, it is possible to make a sugar free bbq sauce simply and without spending hours on preparation.

Have you ever been to an American Indian restaurant? Even though I do not know the exact number, they do exist. Some people assume the cuisine from the indigenous community has been lost. That is so far from the truth. They actually number more than most people think. Let me try to explain…
Some of the most succulent foods I have ever eaten is American Indian. So many different flavors to tantalize the palate can be found in these fanciful little places. The herbs (sage, cayenne, mesquite) mingle to cause an infusion of bursting distinctions for your mouth! How can anyone avoid trying the masterpieces created in these talented cafeterias?
Roast Beef tenderloin with Butternut squash, is so very delicious! I can almost taste the smoothness of this dish as I reminisce. This is a standard favorite of mine! I believe you would love a stew made with zucchini, summer squash, corn and beans. It melts in your mouth. Let me throw in, that a single course I truly like are tortillas!
Another admired dish is fry bread. In some regions it is called “squaw” bread. In some places honey is poured over the finished course. Other ways to enjoy fry bread are with powered sugar, cream, or even with simmered stew. However one likes it, eating this mouth watering fare will make your tongue crave more!
One other tasty meal is called “Chicken Nachos.” Made with corn tortillas, a list of fantastic nourishment is stacked on top. The ingredients can be: tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers, chicken, rice, the list goes on and on. Finally, a hot, gooey river of cheese is poured on top. This is so very yummy!
Some do not know that tomatoes, potatoes, turkey, and squash were staples readily found in America (when Europeans entered). Buffalo, persimmons, corn, even cocoa were part of the First Peoples way of life. They were very intelligent in knowing what was good to eat and what was not. We should be thankful they passed their knowledge onto the rest of us.
Now, I do want to let you know, that I am not against other types of cuisine. It is simply my opinion, that American Indian food is my all time number one. I do not claim to be an expert or any type of professional. This is just from the experience of my taste buds. I have a tongue that speaks many different languages. It definitely enjoys a variety of textures and tastes! So far as I know, it has never lied to me!
I have traveled extensively across the American nation. I will not point out one American Indian restaurant over another. I feel they each have something to contribute to the greatness of their history. I do believe it is in your best interest to taste the food of these miraculous diners. You will give your appetite a nice change. You may find that food with which you are familiar, can be delightful made a different way. Enjoy your journey!

To live longer, happier lives people need to adopt a healthier lifestyle. It is actually easier to change to a healthier lifestyle and the benefits come more quickly than most people imagine.
The benefits of taking these simple steps include a lower risk of diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases and a longer life. By taking the few steps outlined in this article you will be on your way to a healthier, happier lifestyle and reaping these benefits.
By replacing not so healthy habits with healthier ones the benefits of doing so will be achieved, and felt, a lot more quickly. It is well known that smoking, a poor diet and a non active lifestyle can lead to weight gain and a higher risk of disease. Initially, the idea of adopting a more active lifestyle or quitting smoking may seem quite a scary prospect.
However, many find that they feel a hundred times better when they replace those unhealthy habits with healthier eating and a more active lifestyle. This is true for people of all ages and many wonder why they did not make the changes to their lifestyles earlier.
Not only does food provide us with energy to go about our lives, it also plays an important role in preventing diseases and keeping us healthy. The recent rise of certain diseases including diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and some forms of cancer can be partly blamed on the over consumption of both salt and sugar in people”s diets. However, this part of an unhealthy lifestyle is quite easy to change.
Shifting to a diet with less sugar content and avoiding high fat foods and replacing these items with more fruit and vegetables will reduce the risk from these diseases. Any associated weight loss will also lower the risk of many diseases and medical conditions.
Limiting the levels of salt and sugar in a diet is one sure way to achieve a healthy body. In essence, paying greater attention to all of the food we consume will have a greater effect on our health. Modern day farming techniques can often leave the food we buy containing potentially hazardous substances such as pesticides and insecticides.
By selecting foods that are close to their original state, you can still receive the same level of nutrition and reduce the levels of these potentially harmful substances.
Regular exercise plays a very important role in achieving a healthy life. Many people feel that they are not cut out for a daily exercise routine, but this is simply not true. There are many forms of exercise, but the easiest to get started are the forms that do not require any specialist equipment.
Good examples of these are walking, swimming and simple step ups at home. The most beneficial exercise routines will include a minimum of 30 minutes aerobic activity a few days each week. By adding just a few sessions of strength increasing, resistance exercises you will be well on your way to feeling a whole lot healthier with a lot more energy.
A healthy lifestyle should also include regular medical examinations. Preventative screenings and checkups can detect most medical issues in the early stages, when they are much easier to treat. How often people need to have a checkup will vary with age and the current state of their health.
Your family doctor will be able to assess how and when you should go about booking any medical examination. By ensuring you visit your family doctor once a year, you can keep track of your health and gather information on other screenings that you may need.
In order to lead a healthy life you require the ability to make certain choices that lead to a healthier lifestyle. By making sure you eat well and exercise on a regular basis it is possible to live a longer and much healthier life.
The benefits of eating a healthier choice of food and kicking those unhealthy habits will be a more fulfilling life ahead and the opportunity for a longer, happier one too.

Allowing the consumption of alcohol in a limousine is a controversial topic. Limousine business executives must weigh the pros and cons to allowing alcohol in their vehicles to determine the decision that best benefits the company, and complies with state and local laws.
Passengers in limos have historically been portrayed as wealthy individuals in the movies. The big screen paints a classy picture of limo passengers dressed to the nines and drinking wine or champagne.
The reality of alcohol in a limousine is quite different. Legal issues arise that each company must take into consideration. The company”s name and reputation are at stake with every passenger they transport. The decision to allow drinking, if legal where the business is licensed, is ultimately at the discretion of the company management.
Increased Client Base
People who rent a limousine are looking for something different and exciting. When people rent a vehicle this special, it often represents an especially memorable occasion. People often mark special occasions with wine or champagne.
Is the potential increase in business worth the potential problems? Alcoholic beverages lower inhibitions and cause some people to do things they wouldn”t normally do. The company could get a bad reputation because of the inappropriate conduct of inebriated clients.
Spills are only the beginning of potential problems caused by alcohol consumption. Lowered inhibitions could cause passengers to instigate fights which cause damage to the vehicle. Alcohol consumption by passengers may increase insurance costs. Determine if those additional costs are worth the increase in customers and potential problems.
Proms, other dances and graduations are very popular occasions for limousine rental companies. Alcohol is not permitted for people under a specific age in most areas of the United States. Under-age alcohol consumption could become an issue if drinking is permitted in the limo.
Sightseeing and Local Attractions
Sightseeing tours, extra-special shopping trips with the girls or sporting events for the guys are all great reasons when alcohol might be expected to be permitted. Refreshments will keep the client in the car longer and give them a reason to tell their friends about their experience.
Visitors from out of town often enjoy seeing the sights and tasting the tastes the local area has to offer. Provide wines, beer or other beverages that are produced locally to increase the customer”s adoration for the area.
Alcohol is OK in a Limousine but Not as a Passenger in a Vehicle?
Commonly, in the United States, it is legal to drink alcohol in a limo or any other vehicle that transports people for compensation. Vehicles used for every-day use are not considered to be in the same class as those that charge a fee for transportation.
The law in most states says that a passenger of legal drinking age renting the services of a bus, taxicab or limousine may consume alcoholic beverages. The driver of a publicly accessible vehicle is not permitted to consume alcohol while working or driving the vehicle. Local bylaws must also be adhered to where alcoholic beverages are concerned.
