Nutrition and Healthy Teeth

By Destry Masterson

Going to the dentist can really use up a lot of money. But, it”s important to keep up on the health of your teeth, because eating is vital to your health and you will have troubles eating if your teeth are not strong.

The first thing that you need to do is get rid of all the refined, processed crackers, chips, breads, desserts and pastries. These types of foods tend to be made with white flour and are lacking in fiber leaving a residue that sticks to your teeth.

Not only that, but the inside of your teeth require healthy nutrients and if you are eating food that has been stripped of its fiber and nutrients, it can throw your body out of balance. This means that important vitamins and minerals will not be reaching your teeth.

The strength of the tooth will start to deteriorate and look sickly or develop cavities from within the tooth. Junk foods tend to be isolated from the whole plant, so when you eat these kinds of foods, your body tries to compensate and help the food to be more complete, which means that important missing elements will be withdrawn from bones to help vital organs.

You do not want calcium and magnesium taken out of your bones, but the health of the inner organs is important to save your life. So, while you are still alive and kicking, your teeth start to decay.

It”s not just calcium and magnesium, but a host of other vitamins and minerals that get depleted. The bones and teeth are living parts of your body that require a variety of nutrition. And, they also help to build blood for your body.

If the inner nerve that supplies nutrition to the tooth is not receiving vitamin like C and D, the tooth will not be as strong to fight off infection. Junk foods cause an imbalance and weakness in which the body, bones, and organs are lacking in phytonutrients found in whole foods.

The second problem is that diets high in acidic foods such as dairy and flesh actually contribute to a leaching of minerals from the bones and teeth in order to alkalize the blood. If this leaching did not occur, you could die.

The dairy industry has led Americans to believe that the calcium in milk is needed to strengthen bones and teeth, however the countries that drink the most milk also have the most osteoporosis. The deception is that the calcium of plant foods is ignored.

The calcium in plant foods is superior for bone health. You only absorb a little calcium at a time and the plants have the right amounts.

The calcium from cow”s milk is from another species and confusing to the human body. By eating high-fiber plant foods, the body will receive an abundance of phytonutrients that will contribute to healthy clean teeth within and without.

Nutritiously Enhance Your Brain

By Destry Masterson

People do not usually think about their cognitive processes associated with the food they eat. But the food we eat actually has a huge effect on our brain functions and ability.

Of course there is not a food that is going to make you understand everything; that kind of stuff you have to figure out. There are however many foods that will help your brain function faster, harder and better on your quest to understanding everything.

Sugars are a big one, if you think there is nothing good about sugars well you probably aren”t very smart. And I mean it because eating the proper amount of healthy sugars (glucose) will put your memory in tip-top shape.

Glucose is metabolized by the carbohydrates and sugars we eat, and is the brains number one fuel source. Keeping that in mind should give you a little more incentive to eat something sweet.

Eating proteins will make you feel satisfied longer, but studies haven”t found too many correlations of protein effects on the brain. Protein is still good to have, but as far as the brain goes it may be useless.

A good source of protein that is also a huge brain benefactor is salmon. These guys are packed with lean protein making them excellent for muscle gain or weight loss, or even both.

It is the omega-3 fatty acids in here that help they brain. Omegas play a huge role in maintaining the brains functions.

The fatty acids act something like a bunch of buttresses in our brains nervous system; they keep everything well reinforced and preserved. Eating two to three servings of fish in a week is recommended, but eating more is better.

Eating nuts and seeds things that are high in vitamin E do a tremendous amount of work for the brain. Vitamin E is like a blood thinner… well more like a blood maker.

It helps to relieve pressure from the circulatory system, which feeds all our organs and all our tissues all the nutrients they need. So if we have a better circulatory system we are going to have a better functioning brain.

Having increased blood flow to the brain will also help to quicken the synapses. Eating almonds our drinking almond milk will do a great deal to improve your brain functioning.

Coffee has been shown to give you immediate concentration benefits, but long term use have been linked to disadvantageous brain effects. So if you have a really important test I would suggest drinking a cup of coffee before taking it; however I wouldn”t make coffee a daily habit.

Other ways to increase your brain functions is to get a healthy amount of aerobic exercise every day. And get a good amount of sleep at night.

Chocolate: Armed and Dangerous

By Destry Masterson

Who doesn”t love chocolate? It”s a nice treat when you are feeling a little blue.

However this deceptive demon can cause so much destruction, you may want to be weary the next time you consider eating it. Chocolate is one of the main unhealthy treats plaguing this world.

Chocolate is beastly in the amount of sugar it has. One Hershey”s milk chocolate bar contains 31 grams of sugar.

Sugar isn”t good for you in large quantities because it is a carbohydrate. Carbohydrates provide your body with energy but when you eat too much, the excess gets turned into fat tissue and is stored in your body.

When you consume large quantities of sugar regularly, it can cause high blood pressure, diabetes, or harden your arteries. None of these consequences are good, and some of these problems -if left untreated- can lead to heart disease.

Chocolate is also high in fat. One Hershey”s milk chocolate bar contains 16 grams of fat!

That”s more than 2 orders of McDonald”s large French Fries! Fat in foods is bad for you because it causes so many different problems.

For every 10 extra kilograms of fat on your body, your heart has to pump an extra 29 kilometers. That will wear out your heart so fast.

Fat also raises your cholesterol levels, which in turn can cause gall stones, high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes. Who knew so much damage could be cause from a little chocolate bar?

This tasty treat is also high in calories. One Hershey”s milk chocolate bar has 270 calories!

The average adult needs to consume about 2,000 calories a day. However, when you are eating food that is calorie-dense and nutrient-low, you generally end up feeling hungry still and, consequently, overeat.

When you consume more calories than you burn in a day, then the excess calories will be stored as body fat. When you have excess body fat, it becomes harder to burn the calories you are supposed to eat, and it sends you into a downward spiral.

Many people know that chocolate bad for you, but they oftentimes still turn to it as a comfort food in times of emotional crises. This is because chocolate makes you feel happy.

However the happiness is only temporary and large consumption of chocolate can lead to mood swings. This is very counterproductive, since people generally eat chocolate to overcome their emotional trauma.

To make matters even worse, chocolate is addictive. It contains caffeine, and caffeine is addictive.

Some of the ingredients in chocolate will release endorphins in your brain. Endorphins are chemicals that make you feel happy and elated.

Overall, chocolate is bad for you. Its tendency to be high in calories, carbs and fat and low in important nutrients make it a poor snack choice.

Many people turn to chocolate after a break-up with their significant other, and this is a horrible decision. Chocolate will lead to mood swings, which will only make you feel even worse about your situation.

Chocolate is not good for you at all. If you find yourself craving some chocolate, you should go exercise instead.

Giving Personalised Champagne Bottles as Gifts

By Michael Richards

Any special occasion can be made even more festive with Champagne! There is nothing quite like the delicate bubbles from your champagne flute tickling you nose and tempting your palate when you take that first sip. Imagine the look of surprise on the faces of your guests when you present each of them with their own personalised champagne bottle signifying your special day or occasion. Be it a wedding, anniversary, business launch or any other memorable day that personalised Champagne bottle will be a constant reminder of the special occasion.

There are many types of champagne and different names are used in different parts of the world for this wonderful treat! In the US it is called Sparkling Wine, in Spain it is Cava and in Italy Prosecco. The tastes vary by region and grape but the method used to create this special treat is always the same. Most growing regions will have their version of champagne. There are also different types of champagne. The sweeter wine is called Extra Dry while the dryer variety is called Brut. Champagne is also available in a Rose which can be a very pleasant treat indeed.

Champagne was first created in France in the Champagne Region. French wines are typically named for the region they are grown in not the grapes used to create the wine which is normal in the rest of the world. In order to be called Champagne, the wine must be from the Champagne Region. This is why there are varying names used.

Your local wine store should be able to help you personalise your bottles and there are different sizes available to you. Wedding favours are usually the .185 litre size which is often called a split. This size bottle holds approximately one glass. These can be labelled with the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding. They make a wonderful keepsake not only for guests but for the newlyweds themselves. The most common size bottle for occasions is the .75 litre which typically holds 6 glasses. What a wonderful gift to present your guests at the launch of your new business or boat. With your logo on the label your business branding will be well on its way. Bottles of Champagne are also traditionally used to christen new ships and there is even a method used to insure the bottle breaks. If serving larger groups, Magnums are also available. Champagne can make any occasion special, even more so with your personalised label on it!

Facts about Fast Food Fries

By Destry Masterson

Fast food is a big deal; many people make their living off of their little fast food franchise. And many people live off of fast food franchises.

But eating fast food everyday won”t make you live for too long. Truth is if you are trying to live off fast food you will find that you”ll end up with no life at all.

Most of these fast food organizations advertise conveniences low prices. In other words what they are saying is “we are cheap”.

It”s true they are cheap; they stay up all night and somehow they make money off the people who eat at obscure hours that are way beyond bedtime. And if they are selling their meals for so cheap, how much is it costing to make them?

Well not a lot that”s for sure. I eat whole foods and fresh produce, because I”m rich and I can afford it.

So I know for a fact that food is not cheap especially the stuff that is nutritious. The reason they can sell it so cheap is because they pump it full of preservatives fillers and plastics.

Ok it”s not literally plastic… I don”t think any way. But they stuff that they are pumping their food full of is all made in a laboratory.

For some reason whenever I think of the production process: I imagine an aged man with electrically shocked white hair and a bent posture manically laughing as he plays with bubbling chemicals in beakers and boiling tubes. Then I think that what that man has created is the same stuff people get in nice little bags with a strangely unnerving clown imprinted on all sides.

So I looked at the nutritional detail of fast food french fries. It appears these seemingly harmless potato wedges are actually close to poisonous.

There was an experiment done by Morgan Spurlock, where he placed McDonald”s french fries in a glass container next to home cooked French fries. The experiment was meant to demonstrate the biodegrade-ability of the fries, which I did with astounding results.

The fries from McDonalds lasted significantly long than the other fries without growing any funguses or anything. At first you might think this is a good thing.

The fact of the matter is, when something cannot be broken down it is much harder for our digestive system to metabolize it. So these fries that are pumped full of preservatives are going to be preserved inside your body for a long time… as fat!

The carbohydrate levels in fries are ridiculously high, and when matched with the overwhelming amount of sodium. It is a lot like taking a kidney-punch from Bruce Lee.

Really these fries kill your kidney. They overwhelm your detoxing organs, thus making it harder to metabolize any and everything else.

Peruvian Quinoa – A Super Food From South America

By Valentina Bella

Many Americans are still unfamiliar with quinoa, pronounced keen-wa. Those who have tried it, however, are amazed at its mild, pleasant flavor and unparalleled health benefits. It is arguably the most nutritious grain you will find, and is a much healthier choice than the usual rice or bulgur. Quinoa is a great source of fiber. High fiber foods aid in weight loss as they make foods more filling and also help with digestion. It is also a very good source for vegetarian protein. Vegetarians often search for other protein sources than beans, etc. and are surprised to find a grain with as much protein as quinoa.

Although quinoa may seem like a new trend, it has been domesticated in Peru since the time of the Incas. They not only recognized its health benefits, but considered it sacred. They sometimes referred to it as the “mother of all grains.” This is an accurate description for this ancient grain that beats the rest in every nutrition category. Some of the best quinoa in the world comes from Peru, so health-conscious shoppers around the world look for Peruvian quinoa.

Throughout Peruvian history, quinoa was restricted by the Spaniards, then seen as a food for the poor, and eventually rediscovered for its health benefits. Today it is served in high end Peruvian restaurants. Peruvian cooks have created a multitude of recipes using Peruvian quinoa. Some of the most interesting recipes also include other unique Peruvian products such as aji amarillo, aji panca and rocoto peppers and pastes. The types of dishes include everything from stews and soups to pilafs and side dishes.

One traditional way Peruvians use quinoa is in a simple stew. The quinoa is rinsed and then mixed with fried tomatoes and onions, and chopped beef or chicken. In Peru, the term stew is used loosely to describe many variations of dishes that are the result of the African influence in Peruvian cooking. This interesting influence came from African slaves who traveled to Peru with the Spaniards. There is also a large Asian influence in Peruvian cooking, which is mixed with the Spanish and native cuisines as well. This is what makes Peruvian dishes so diverse. Like versatile Peruvian quinoa, Peruvian cuisine is never boring. In fact, over 400 dishes are registered as traditional Peruvian recipes, which has earned Peruvian food the distinction as the most diverse ethnic cuisine in the world.

Beyond countless Peruvian recipes, quinoa is being used in many interesting ways. Because of its position as one of the most nutritious foods in the world, both amateur and professional cooks add Peruvian quinoa to many other foods to improve their nutritional profiles. It can be added to any layered food like lasagna or mixed into fillings for dishes like stuffed peppers. Some eat it for breakfast as a hot cereal, with honey or another sweetener, fresh fruit, or nuts. Others add it to batter for pancakes or cookies, or purchase quinoa flour, which can be used to make pasta, breads and other baked goods.

Peruvian quinoa flour is unique because it is gluten-free, just like whole quinoa. The quinoa flour is just finely ground quinoa, which makes it the healthiest choice for flour, which is not usually known for health benefits. However, cooks must experiment when using quinoa flour, because it does not translate exactly in recipes that call for white flour or whole wheat flour.

The rule of thumb is to replace up to 20% of the flour in a recipe with quinoa flour to increase the fiber and protein, and to add more liquid to make up for the change. However, many talented cooks have come up with recipes using only quinoa flour and other gluten-free products to create baked goods and favorites like pancakes that everyone can enjoy, even those with serious digestive conditions and allergies.

As quinoa flour becomes more popular, its uses and the recipes associated with it are growing as well. There are now cookbooks dedicated solely to whole quinoa, which shows how versatile this super food truly is. From breakfast to dinner, quinoa may be the easiest way to add fiber, protein, vitamins and essential amino acids to your diet without making large changes.

Peruvian quinoa has an interesting history, and now the world is recognizing it for its mild flavor, versatility and outstanding nutrition. Health-conscious shoppers are searching for Peruvian quinoa in particular, wanting the authentic, native grains from the fascinating landscape of South America. From the time of the ancient Incas and into the future, Peruvian quinoa has always been and will continue to be one of the world”s most interesting and nutritious super foods.

The Red Wine Success

By Destry Masterson

In most cases drinking is not going to be good for you in anyway, but red wine has some astounding attributes that doctors are saying “may be the cure against aging.” That sounds almost too good to be true… an alcoholic beverage that is good for you.

Wine is made from fermented grapes; there are tons of vineyards all around the world. Every year around august the vineyards start smashing grapes and turning regular, boring old grape juice into sweet, delicious nutritious wine.

Interestingly enough the astounding health benefits only come from fermented grape juices not from regular unfermented juice. When the fruit juice starts to rot there is a change in the chemical structure and the forms a new substance within called resveratrol.

This resveratrol has been shown to do a lot of amazing things for the body specifically in the circulatory system. It attacks and lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and it raises HDL (good cholesterol).

It also helps to prevent and disassociate blood clots. Despite these things the alcohol with thin your blood.

That may sound scary, but it is actually very beneficial for your organs and tissues. With thinner more flow-able blood it is easier for your heart to send it to all extremities of the body.

Quick lesson in the function of blood: blood carries oxygen and nutrients throughout our bodies, when we get the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients we feel better, look better, and well… are better. So the resveratrol in the wine will work synergistically with the alcohol for maximum benefits.

Take caution, this doesn”t mean you should become a lush and drink all day. Treat it like a supplement if you want full benefits.

Any more than eight fluid ounces a day is too much and will start having negative impacts on your brain. Women should not drink more than four fluid ounces a day.

Being made from grapes it is also packed with flavonoids, some wines more than others. Darker red wines like your cabernet and pinot noir have a huge amount of flavonoids, where your lighter white wines like zinfandels have much less.

So when drinking wine to lower your cholesterol and help your heart, the things to keep in mind dark red wines, no more than two drinks a day (only one for women) and also drink with a meal. Drinking with a meal will help extract the lipids from the food.

On the other hand, drinking wine could raise triglycerides, so people with high triglycerides should not be drinking. Regular consumption of alcohol has also been linked to migraines.

A Simple Guide to Shopping for a Home Bar

By Dave Rokiki

Once a person has made the decision to invest in a home bar, they have lots of deliberation ahead of them. For example, their budget for such an item, what style or type of home bar would best suit their home and their needs, and then how to go about shopping for the right one to purchase.

First of all, as with any purchase, it is best to start searching for a particular product with a price range in mind. Therefore, it is important for the potential home bar owner to realize that there is a broad price range for home buyers. Generally, the more expensive the bar is, the more features it contains and the construction material that is selected will dictate the price.

A simple folding unit with chrome rails and just a bit of cabinet space will run around $500.00. If the home bar you have in mind is one of those massive pieces of furniture with all the features one can add, a vast array of well-made cabinetry all made of solid cherry, you are talking several thousands of dollars. Therefore, remember your budget allotment, work within it, determine where the bar will be located in your home and you can begin to visualize more clearly just what type of home bar you desire.

Once the soon to be home bar owner has taken this initial step it is time to go shopping. Additionally, it is important to remember that there are a number of shopping options available for the individual. Specifically, the home bar shopper can explore the possibility of purchasing a gently used home bar that is being put on the market for a number of reasons. Perhaps the owner is trying to sell his or her home bar due to financial reasons or perhaps the seller is downsizing in home accommodations. Whatever the reason may be, it is important to research the classifieds in the newspaper or search the Internet for bargains on home bar units.

Another great way to shop for a home bar is to utilize the Internet and to conduct word searches such as home bars for sale, buying a home bar, home bar cost comparisons, etc. Often by using a search engine, a number of returns will come back to the Internet shopper and help them to locate a home bar at the best price.

Again, you might check around your own neighborhood for garage and estate sales that could contain a home bar unit. Drive around and visit these sales. You just might be able to find what you are looking for and if you do, you can get it at a very reasonable price.

Finally, the potential home bar owner has the option of shopping locally. Although it may not be advantageous to the customer”s pocket book it will benefit others in a number of ways. Specifically, by buying a home bar locally, it will help the tax base in the local community as well as providing a retail sale to the local vendor. Additionally, through a local purchase of a home bar, the customer will have the benefit of seeing the product first hand rather than buying sight unseen through the Internet.

Creative Ways with Bananas

By Destry Masterson

After a workout, they make the perfect nourishment considering that they will replenish your energy naturally. They even have the easiest to absorb protein content, even though they are not as high in protein as many other sources, it is sufficient to help you after a workout.

They make a wonderful snack for kids whose teeth haven”t all developed yet. It”s easy to chew a soft banana. They can be mashed and spoon fed to a baby.

Older kids love a banana sliced in half lengthwise and spread with peanut butter. And, this makes a very healthy snack for growth and energy.

In the olden days, banana splits were quite popular. People would cut a banana in half lengthwise again, put a couple of scoops of ice cream on top of that, and then pour a chocolate or caramel syrup over all that and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

If you poke your finger into the end of a banana, it will start to divide three ways lengthwise. Then, you can take these three lengths and chop them into little pieces that are perfect for a fruit salad.

You can also just chop the banana whole into round 1/2″ thick wheels. And top a peanut butter sandwich with them or add them to cereal or fruit salad. Top a banana cream pie with them.

One thing that is really awesome is to peel a banana, divide it into three sections and freeze it in a ziploc sandwich baggie along with the thirds of two other bananas. Put this into the freezer and freeze it.

Bananas take at least 6-8 hours to freeze. But, when they are finally frozen, you can put them through a Champion juicer blank blade and it will come out like creamy sweet banana flavored ice cream.

You can also take these same frozen banana and make a creamy banana shake that is similar to a milkshake in creaminess. Add 100% frozen fruit juice or organic soy milk and other smoothie ingredients and you will have a really nice fruit shake.

If you want to get some good probiotics, you have to get the plain yogurt, because other yogurts are sweetened with sugary syrups that kill the good bacteria. But, a banana will come to the rescue. All you have to do is mash a banana and add it to the plain yogurt for natural sweetness..

Many vegetarians are trying to avoid the use of eggs in their muffins and cookies. If they add some mashed banana to the recipe, it will make a good egg substitute.

Dehydrated banana slices are such a delicious snack that you won”t be able to stop eating them. There are many other ways to use them besides these mentioned, so have fun!
